Wedding-wear primarily dominates the Indian couture wear market, and justifiably so, says internationally known designer Manish Arora, who has returned to showcase his collection on the Indian ramp after a gap of three years.
"In India, bridal wear is couture, so it makes sense for designers to show bridal wear during the Couture Week. In Europe too, couture is meant for special occasions and the clothes shown are suitable to their market," Arora said.
"The definition of couture in India is different from the west as what designers show there is more apt for their tastes and market sensibilities," he added.Marked for his creative use of psychedelic colours, trendy prints and unique designs, Arora's international presence is quite huge.
He made a successful debut at the London Fashion Week in September 2005, and also tip-toed in the London, Hong Kong and Miami market in a big way. He also got a rare chance to showcase a retrospective of his collections at Victoria and Albert Museum in 2007.
He is the only Indian designer who has been invited to the Paris Fashion Week for seven consecutive years.
Rarely seen on the Indian runway in the recent past, the designer made his comeback after a gap of three years at the Delhi Couture Week.
"I'm showing in Paris each season since many years. (But) India is where I get my inspiration. Its just that I have not done a catwalk show in India since three years as the timing between Paris show and India show is very less but couture week was the perfect timing," he said. For his comeback show, Arora presented a retrospective of his collections shown at Paris Fashion Week over the past few years.
The inspiration for all his garments was in "India and its great culture".
"The collection consists of some my favourite pieces that I have shown in Paris over the past five years and some of them have never been shown in India. Each piece is unique and extremely time consuming to make. All the pieces have been handcrafted and have meticulous embroideries and embellishments," he said.
The designer's collection was a visual feast for all fashionistas who were looking for freshness in the couture segment. His collection was a mix of ultra-feminine skirts and dresses to streamlined pencil skirts to cigarette pants. Bold graphic prints, three dimensional designs and floral motifs were the high points of the line.
Some of the pieces shown on the runway have also been flaunted by international fashion icons like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj. An appreciation for the impact fashion makes on our lives inspired Callie to study Fashion Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. And she loved every minute of her time there. Upon graduation, she honed her design skills in women’s and children’s wear for various Australian companies, eventually landing her a position designing wedding gowns. Callie discovered she had a special talent for creating memorable gowns, and fell in love with bridal design.
Modern Trousseau’s couture designs are the ultimate in creativity and construction. Callie loves the luxury of working with fine French and Italian laces, imported silks, and delicate beadwork, and takes great care in selecting the fabrics that bring her 2-dimensional sketches to life. When the perfect fabric cannot be located, Callie will design the intricate lace patterns and unique beadwork for production in the finest ateliers.Nothing less than perfect is the standard Callie Tein sets for the Modern Trousseau line of bridal gowns and mother of the occasion dresses.  This originates from her belief that one’s wedding day is one of the most special days of a woman’s life, and the bride should remember herself looking and feeling gorgeous. Ultimately, a Modern Trousseau gown by Callie Tein is a one-of-a-kind, wearable works of art created to mark that very special moment when a woman becomes a bride.

Wedding is no doubt one of the most important days in the life of a girl and she is definitely the queen of the day! Everyone is very keen on how the bride looks; and so, even the would-be-brides put in a great deal of effort to get the right look and accessories! And there focus is always on three very important aspects which are the bridal dress, bridal makeup and bridal hairstyle. Speaking particularly of bridal hairstyle, the bridal hairdo you choose should go with your outfit. Since Indian weddings are full of rites and rituals, there are a variety of Indian bridal hairstyles that run parallel with the heavy jewelry and embellished bridal outfits that are just perfect for the occasion.Indian brides generally go for voluminous, beautifully shaped buns that are further enhanced with flowers or other hair accessories. The traditional bun hairstyle of the different hairstyles for  Indian wedding is where in the hair is first pulled together and then twisted in the form of a bun, goes in perfect harmony with the traditional Indian wedding outfits like sarees and lehengas.
Pinned-up bun is also a great wedding hairstyle idea for Indian brides. Pinned up bun isn’t actually a bun, rather a small quantity of hair are pinned on top of the head to create an illusion of a bun. It can be ideal option for those who would love to wear a traditional bun on their big day but their hair is not long enough to style it. Embellish the bun finally with beads or floral accessories to give it a trendier look.
Another variation of the traditional Indian bridal hairstyle comes in the form of ‘Side Bun’. This hairstyle is somewhat similar to the traditional high-bun; the only difference is that rather than placing in the center, the bun is shifted to one side. After a thorough blow-dry, the hair is brushed straight and then pulled into a low puffed-up hair bun, onto a side. This style, however, looks great only if you have well-defined cheeks and prominent eyes.
If, however, you don’t want to go the usual run-of-the-mill updo hairstyle, the Spanish updo might just impress you provided that your hair is long and thick. Start off by blow-drying the hair to add enough volume and then part horizontally. Grab the upper part of the hair and style it up, with elaborate curls, and let the other part flowing down at the back. Enhance the ‘do with floral or bejeweled accent pieces or simply with crystal or fancy bows and you’re done.
When it comes to bridal hairstyles for Indian brides, Bun is not the only hairstyle option. You may also go for beautiful braids adorned with flowers at each twist. This style works best for long hair. Hair is parted in the middle and braided with flowers and jewels. An important feature of this traditional Indian bridal hairstyle is that thereafter the middle part of the head is festooned with jewels that reaches the bride’s forehead and adds stars to her look.If you are daring enough to try an entirely different hair look on your nuptials, the bohemian hairstyle is an excellent alternative! It works well for long, flowing hair. You simply have to set your manes in Velcro curls. As soon as the curls are set, pull them away from the face and crown them with a tiara leaving them loose at the back.A messy and dishevelled look can still be incredibly sexy and charming and is perfect for the Indian wedding receptions where there is no compulsion of covering up one’s hair. The best part about this hairstyle: You can do it yourself and need not be an expert in hairstyling-matters!Doesn’t this bride look great with her bangs framing her face softly? The rest of the hair is simply held in place using pins and floral accessories; sure to make a style statement for the wedding or the reception! This is a slightly more complicated hairstyle which is actually rather easy to achieve using hair extensions (especially for brides having shorter hair). The woven braids are simply piled up messily on the top and, in the front; the bangs are swept to the side for a glamorous look.

A bride is a woman about to be married or newlywed. The word may come from the Proto-Germanic verb root *brÅ«-, meaning 'to cook, brew, or make a broth,' which was the role of the daughter-in-law in primitive families. In Western culture, a bride may be attended by one or more bridesmaids. If marrying a man, her partner is usually referred to as the bridegroom (or groom). Alternatively, the gender-neutral word spouse is used. Bride and groom in traditional Chinese clothing. The bride and groom wear red or with red decoration, which is associated with courage, loyalty, honor, success, fortune, fertility, happiness, and passion in Chinese culture.Circa 1926. In the early 20th century it was not uncommon to see a bride wearing a darker-colored dress. The woman to the far right is wearing a typical wedding dress from 1929. Up until the late 1930s wedding dresses reflected the styles of the day. From that time onward, wedding dresses have been based on Victorian ballgowns. In Europe and North America, the typical attire for a bride is a formal dress and a veil. Usually, in the "white wedding" model, the bride's dress is bought specifically for the wedding, and is not in a style that could be worn for any subsequent events. Previously, until at least the middle of the 19th century, the bride generally wore her best dress, whatever color it was, or if the bride was well-off, she ordered a new dress in her favorite color and expected to wear it again. For first marriages in Western countries, a white wedding dress is usually worn, a tradition started by Queen Victoria's wedding. Through the earlier parts of the 20th century, Western etiquette prescribed that a white dress should not be worn for subsequent marriages, since the wearing of white was mistakenly regarded by some as an ancient symbol of virginity, despite the fact that wearing white is a fairly recent development in wedding traditions, and its origin has more to do with conspicuous consumption from an era when a white dress was luxurious, even prodigal, because of difficulties with laundering delicate clothes. Today, Western brides frequently wear white, cream, or ivory dresses for any number of marriages; the color of the dress is not a comment on the bride's sexual history. Outside of Western countries, brides most commonly wear national dress. White wedding dresses are particularly uncommon in Asian traditions, because white is the color of mourning and death in those cultures. In many Asian cultures, red is usual for brides, as this colour indicates vibrance and health and has over time been associated with brides. However in modern times other colours may be worn, or Western styles preferred. Regardless of colour in most Asian cultures bridal clothes are highly decorative, often covered with embroidery, beading or gold. In some traditions brides may wear more than one outfit, this is true for example in Japan, parts of India, and, archaically, in parts of the Arab world.Particular styles of jewelry are often associated with bridal wear, for example wedding rings in most Western cultures, or chura (red and white bangles) in Punjabi Sikh culture. Hindu brides are presented with a mangalsutra during the wedding ceremony, which has much of the same significance as a wedding ring in other parts of the world. Wedding jewellery has traditionally been used to demonstrate the value of the bride's dowry. In addition to the gown, brides often wear a veil and carry a bouquet of flowers, a small heirloom such as a lucky coin, a prayer book, or other token. In Western countries, a bride may wear “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”; a bridal purse (or money bag) is also common.
The term bride appears in combination with many words, some of which are obsolete. Thus "bridegroom" is a newly married man, and "bride-bell," "bride-banquet" are old equivalents of wedding-bells, wedding-breakfast. "Bridal" (from Bride-ale), originally the wedding-feast itself, has grown into a general descriptive adjective, the bridal ceremony. The bride-cake had its origin in the Roman confarreatio, an upper-class form of marriage, the essential features of whose ceremony were the eating by the couple of a cake made of salt, water and spelt flour, and the holding by the bride of three wheat-ears, a symbol of plenty.

Wedding makeup tip: Beware facials !
Unless you have facials on a regular basis DO NOT get one the week before your wedding day. Facials can pull impurities to the surface, and you do not want to break out the week of your wedding. To also help avoid blotches and blemishes do not make any major changes in your skin care routine during the few weeks before your wedding. The weeks before your wedding is not the time to experiment with your skin care. If you regularly get facials have your last regular facial a good week before the wedding.
